Hedder Pierre-Joseph for Orange County Commission District 6
Primary Election: August 18, 2026
General Election: November 3, 2026

Meet Hedder Pierre-Joseph
Being a true servant to the community is one of the highest forms of leadership.
I was born in Nassau, Bahamas to Haitian immigrant parents. After the death of my mother, I arrived in South Florida at a very young age as an undocumented immigrant via a substandard watercraft. I became a legal resident in 1994 and have resided in Orange County since 2003.
I have always been strongly involved in our community as an educator, business owner, youth mentor, advocate and real estate agent, and an active member of New Covenant Baptist Church.
As a longtime community servant, I am passionate about a number of issues impacting our community to include immigration, business development, sustainable housing, youth and young adults, and increased access for persons with disabilities.
As a candidate for Orange County Commissioner for District 6, I pledge to give voice to the voiceless, work with and not above our citizens, and continue “Pushing for Progress” for the residents of District 6 and the Orange County community.
My Platform
I will fight every day for the issues that matter most to our community.
Small and Emerging Businesses
As a small business owner, I know firsthand the challenges we face in building and growing our companies. While there are many programs to assist small businesses, I believe more business development opportunities should be directed to small businesses. As your next county commissioner, I will work to increase opportunities and dollars awarded to small businesses.
Sustainable Housing
The need for sustainable housing is paramount in our community. Our teachers, first responders, young adults, and seniors must be able to afford housing to live and contribute to our community. Expanding and strengthening programs and policies to provide this quality of life is a major initiative and remains at the forefront of my candidacy.
Our Friends with Disabilities
Persons with disabilities continue to experience denial of access. At the age of 16, my daughter experienced the onset of a severe autoimmune disease and became disabled including being unable to walk. I know from everyday experiences the challenges of thousands of families with disabilities and their caretakers. I am committed to addressing these issues and working diligently to create change.
Our Rising Generation
As a candidate for Orange County Commissioner for District 6, I pledge to give voice to the voiceless, work with and not above our citizens, and continue “Pushing for Progress” for the residents of District 6 and the Orange County community.
Protecting Our Environment and Clean Water
Orange County’s natural beauty and clean water are treasures we must preserve for future generations. From our lakes and wetlands to our neighborhoods, every resident deserves access to clean, safe water and green spaces. As your commissioner, I will champion environmental protection, sustainable development practices, and policies that safeguard our water resources while ensuring equitable access to nature for all our communities.
Standing Up for the Marginalized
As someone who arrived in this country as an undocumented immigrant and overcame tremendous obstacles to become a legal resident, I understand the struggles faced by immigrants and other vulnerable communities. I will be a fierce advocate for those whose voices are too often ignored—fighting for fair treatment, equal opportunity, and dignity for immigrants, refugees, and all marginalized groups in Orange County. Everyone deserves a seat at the table and a champion in local government.
